Isolation and purification of viruses is a process dependent on the host cell or the environment in which the virus has multiplied. In many different studies and applications, viruses are required to be introduced in downstream operations in such a way that their biological properties and structure do not change. Identifying viral agents from different samples is important in diagnosing different types of infections, as well as isolating and determining the type of virus . Based on the classification, viruses have a unique size, shape and biochemical level, and are structurally enveloped or capsid, which play a key role in the selection of techniques used in downstream. Several studies and reports have been published in the direction of the industrial needs for the preparation of vaccines in a targeted way to improve the current technologies of the downstream operation of viruses. The results of these studies have had a productive and commercial reputation in the preparation of multiple viral vaccines in the medical and veterinary fields. In this regard, the methods used to isolate, concentrate and purify viruses can be used in both research and industry fields by creating the required facilities, which currently include sedimentation, centrifugation, filtration and chromatography. Promoting the development of viral vaccine production systems is considered one of the country's basic needs. In this article, the methods and technologies used in the last two decades in the field of downstream processing of viral vaccines and their results are reviewed.
