Epidemiological investigations and evaluation of the health and economic importance of any disease is considered the first step in its prevention and control and is considered an almost reliable starting point for fighting the disease. The present study investigated the prevalence of parasitic and bacterial diseases in nine cities of Tehran province during the years 2019-2023 and the damages caused by them. This study was a field-library study and the required information was obtained from the country's veterinary organization and the General Directorate of Agricultural in Tehran province. ANOVA, Tukey's post-hoc test, and the parametric t-test of two independent groups were used for data variance analysis. The results showed that hydatid cyst has the highest prevalence in Tehran province compared to other diseases among slaughtered animals. The percentage of infection with most diseases in cattle was significantly higher than that of sheep (P-value<0.05). No significant difference was observed in the trend of disease contamination in years (P-value>0.05), while the cities had a significant difference in terms of the percentage of contamination with bacterial and parasitic pathogens (P-value<0.05). The evaluation of the amount of economic losses caused by diseases also showed that in 2019-2023, the main cause of damage was brucellosis among cattle and Hydatid among sheep. The findings of this study serve as basic information about economic losses related to bacterial and parasitic diseases of cattle and sheep slaughtered in Tehran province and can be a suitable guide for relevant organizations and officials.
