A serological investigation of hydatidosis using ELISA on buffalos in Urmia Azarbaijan Province

Abstract

Hydatid cyst is a world wide and zoonotic disease between human and animal. In this study 384 buffalos were used for blood sampling according to cocran formula. In compliance with ELISA kit to study the samples, the needed antigen was removed from the fertile hydatid cysts and purified according to Oriol and Rogan method.Then reliability of the conjugate (Biodesign company) required density of antigen and blood serum were checked. Finally the blood sera from the buffallos chosen were tested with prepared Elisa Test. The results were %25 positive. This study indicated that,Elisa in the level of 1/400 serum dilution showed 95% sensitivity and 98% specificity. So the ELISA test can be suitable method in the diagnosis of Hydatid Cysts infection.
